Express Swimmers swim great at Girls WIAA State Meet!

Congratulations to all of the Waukesha Express High School girls that finished their high school seasons successfully at last weekend’s WIAA Division 1 and 2 State Meets at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.  We are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to having everyone back on the same team pushing each other for even greater performances.  Great job girls!!

Listed below are the results for the Express swimmers at the High School State Meets:

Division 2 State Meet (Friday, November 13):

Rachel Johnson (Elkhorn Area) – 50 Freestyle (24.84  8^th place) and 100 Freestyle (54.17  7^th place)       

Anna Meinholz (Catholic Memorial H.S.) -- 200 IM (2:09.00 4^th place) and 100 Breaststroke (1:04.71 2^nd place)

Rachel Johnson helped the Elkhorn Area team to a 3^rd place finish in the 200 Free Relay (24.18 split) and 5^th place finish in the 400 Free Relay (53.15 split). 

Lindsey Rodenkirk competed on the New Berlin West 200 Free Relay (26.46 split).

Division 1 State Meet (Saturday, November 14): 

Nicole Bennett (Waukesha North H.S.) -- 200 IM (2:15.60  24^th place) and 100 Breaststroke (1:10.67  22^nd place)

Kayla Skenandore (Waukesha South H.S.) – 200 Freestyle (1:52.28  2^nd place) and 100 Butterfly (56.70  2^nd place)

Serena Wanasek (Burlington H.S.) – 200 Freestyle (1:55.03  13^th place) and 500 Freestyle (5:10.83  15^th place)

Jessica Wolf (Muskego H.S.) – 200 Freestyle (1:55.75  14^th place) and 500 Freestyle (5:00.18  5^th place)

Emma Wuerslin (Waukesha South H.S.) – 500 Freestyle (5:22.01  25^th place)

We had a number of Express swimmers that helped lead their high school teams to strong relay performances at the meet.  Julia Mikota led the Arrowhead 200 Free Relay to victory (23.65 split – fastest on the relay).  She also helped the 400 Free Relay to a 2^nd place finish (51.45 split – fastest on the relay).  Other notable relay performances came from the Waukesha South/Mukwonago 200 Free Relay team of Elise Borja (24.43), Kayla Skenandore (24.23), Morgan Farrell (25.25), and Courtney Sheehan (24.59).  They swam to a 3^rd place finish of 1:38.50.  The South/Mukwonago quartet of Borja (52.92), Skenandore (51.98), Sheehan (52.78), and Pamela Breitrick (53.87) also finished 3^rd place with a time of 3:31.55.  Jessica Wolf and Kristin Kaiser helped pace the Muskego 400 Free Relay to a 6^th place time with 54.59 and 54.08 splits respectively.  The Burlington Relays were headed by Anna Brooks, Sara Brooks, and Serena Wanasek.  Those three led the Burlington 400 Free Relay to a 7^th place finish (Serena – 54.09, Sara – 54.50, and Anna – 53.71).

 A number of other Express swimmers contributed to relay successes for their High School teams this past weekend.  These swimmers include Nicole Bennett of Waukesha North/KM (23^rd place 200 Medley Relay – fly split 27.68); Kelly Davis of Waukesha South/Mukwonago (19^th place 200 Medley Relay – free split 25.55); Grace Devine of Menomonee Falls/Hamilton (13^th place in 400 Free Relay – 54.10 split); Briana Horozewski of Waukesha North/KM (23^rd place 200 Medley Relay – back split 29.27); Katie Schroeder of Brookfield Central (16^th place in the 200 Medley Relay – fly split 27.08);  Fallyn Schwake of Waukesha North/KM (23^rd place in 200 Medley Relay – free split 26.02); and Sara Zemanovic of Waukesha South/Mukwonago (19^th place in 200 Medley Relay – fly split 27.88).    

Great job to all of the girls that competed during the high school season this year.  We are looking forward to getting everyone back in the pool training hard together again.
