Emily Schwabe, a senior
at Waukesha West High School, signed with Louisiana State University (LSU). After
several trips to different universities, Schwabe decided LSU was
where she wanted to spend the next four years of her swimming
career.
“After my
recruiting trip, I was sold,” said Schwabe. “The campus
is gorgeous and I could imagine the team being my family for the
next four years.”
Schwabe has always loved
the water and swimming. She started taking swimming lessons through
the SwimAmerica program offered by the Waukesha Express Swim Team
(Express) and continued to swim simply because she loved the sport.
She joined Express at age 7 and has been swimming competitively
ever since. Through her hard work and love of the sport Emily
was one of eight Express swimmers to qualify for the 2008
Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
“I was so lucky to
be part of such a great team at such a young age,” Schwabe
said. Schwabe credits this experience with making her the swimmer
she is today and earning her a partial scholarship at LSU, which
will pay for the majority of her school
expenses.
“I’m glad
Emily has chosen to continue her swimming career in college,”
said Head Coach Blaine Carlson. “She is a hard worker, great
teammate, and a very talented swimmer. She will be greatly
missed.”
